Let’s Try And Be More Respectful!
I saw this post last week on the Stanley, ND Happenings Facebook page. It was posted by one of the Stanley Park and Rec. department workers. I’ll be honest, it kind of angered me. My grandkids have always loved going to the parks in Stanley. Our Park and Rec department has done a great job updating a lot of the equipment over the past years. We have a wonderful new pool for our kids to enjoy.
Please read her post and let’s all try to do better!
“Good morning everyone. I help take care of our parks. I just want to put a friendly reminder out there. We have had some interesting things happen so if you could please talk with your children, adult children and maybe your self when you leave the house to spend time in the park, please be kind, respectful and do your part. Please get your garbage to the garbage can, if it’s full there are a few other cans not to far away. Don’t be sticking things like forks in the electrical boxes or trying to rip them off the wall. Don’t be trying to flip the picnic tables over. Don’t be putting the trash cans on top of the tables. There is no smoking or drinking down in the playground under the slides, so please take your cigarette butts, vapes and little booze bottles somewhere else. Please we can do better.
I also wanted to remind you all that there are NO DOGS ALLOWED IN THE PARKS!!! We have a special Dog park for them to run and play to the west of the High School. We will be getting signs back up since people have walked off with the ones I had up.
Also:
** Please Don’t Park In Front Of The Dumpster By The Pool!
There has been many times it has not been dumped because cars parked in the way.
Thank you.

One Visit Down, Two More To Go
Carter was here visiting last week and while it was a shorter than usual visit, we packed a lot into a couple of days.
Zach brought Carter on Wednesday night and then stayed with us because he had work to do in the White Earth area. He may have regretted that after Dale enlisted his help to move our back swing, put up a fire table, and remove an old unused fireplace from the basement. He was a good sport about it!
On Thursday, Carter was at the office some. He went and got a Whirla Whip. He also got his usual motorcycle ride with Dale. That night I tried my hand at watching a classic horror film with him.
Friday was another visit to the office and then a trip to Minot with Dale. They made one stop before hitting the mall. Then it was game on at Tilt for a while, a stop at Barnes and Noble, a trip to Scheel’s and then supper at Longhorn’s. When they got back, Carter and I hit up A Plus Fireworks at their new building and then settled in to watch another horror film.
Saturday included more shopping in town and setting off fireworks, along with a lot of other activities.
He headed home on Sunday with Dale taking him to Minot to meet his mom. He was trying to get her to agree to a few extra days, but they have plans with Zach’s parents for the 4th of July, so it was a no go. He was hinting he might want to come back again.
Carter was a great help while he was here as well. For those that don’t know, our Buddy broke his back leg on June 6. He went to the vet in Williston on June 9 with us hoping it was just a strained ligament or something like that. He fell while trying to jump up in Dale’s chair and missed, landing on that leg.
On June 11 he had some pretty extensive surgery on that leg and now goes back this Thursday to see how it is healing. It has been a challenge for us. He’s supposed to stay calm. Everyone seems to have gotten that memo other than that stubborn Mini Aussie.
There has been a lot of carrying him in and out of the house. Lifting him up to sit with you in a chair, on the couch, or in the bed. That wouldn’t be so bad if he wasn’t overweight. He’s not overly thrilled that the vet also put him on a weight loss diet.
So the next six weeks or so will be spent taking care of our Buddy while still trying to enjoy some of the summer. Jozie is coming for the fair. We might have to split our trips to the fair with her. Abel will come in August in time for Crazy Days. Just like with Carter, we’ll make sure they still have the fun they have come to expect. It might just have to be with only one of us at a time sometimes.
