Region 8 Volleyball Update
The Region 8 volleyball tournament got underway on Monday, Nov. 7 at the Tioga High School.
In first round action, it was a District 16 sweep. Kenmare-Bowbells defeated Alexander in the first game of the day in straight sets. Stanley topped New Town three sets to one.
Ray topped Trenton three sets to one. Powers Lake-Burke Central defeated Williston Trinity Christian in straight sets in the last game of the day.
That set up semifinal night on Tuesday, Nov. 8 with Kenmare-Bowbells playing Stanley in the first game followed by Ray vs. Powers Lake-Burke Central.
Championship Night will be Thursday, Nov. 10. Losers from Tuesday will meet up in the third place match at 6:00 p.m. That will be followed with the winners from Tuesday meeting up in the championship game.
The Region 8 Champion will advance to the State Tournament that is set for November 17-19 at the Bismarck Event Center located at 315 South 5th Street.
The three-day event will begin Thursday, November 17 at 1:00 p.m. with Class A and B action. Class A Quarterfinals will be played at Bismarck Event Center Main Arena. Class B Quarterfinals will be played at Bismarck Event Center Exhibition Hall.
The Class B tournament will be seeded by the head coaches of the eight qualifying teams via an electronic process.
Editor's Note: Kenmare-Bowbells defeated Stanley on Tuesday and Powers Lake-Burke Central posted the win over Ray. That sets Thursday's championship night with Stanley facing off against Ray in the first game at 6:00 p.m. and Kenmare-Bowbells against Powers Lake-Burke Central for the Region 8 title to follow.
