Voters Turn Out At The Polls For General Election
Voter turnout across the state for the November 8, 2022, General Election was at just under 43%, with 241,879 voters casting their ballot. That compares to 62.44% of eligible voters totaling 363,006 ballots cast in the November 2020 presidential election.
In Mountrail County turnout was lower than the statewide average at 35.98% of eligible voters with 2,636 ballots cast. That compares to 55% with 4,159 ballots cast in the November 2020 general election. There were 4,063 voters in the 2016 General Election, which was also a Presidential Election year. 3,834 ballots were cast in the 2018 General Election.
Mountrail County vote totals are unofficial until the board of canvassing meets on Monday, Nov. 21.
In the race of United States Senator, John Hoeven (R) received 1,391 votes, followed by 631 for Katrina Christiansen (D); and Rick Becker (I) with 592. Those figures are comparative to the statewide vote with Hoeven receiving 56.40% of the vote, followed by Christiansen with 24.97% and Becker with 18.50%.
In the race for Representative in Congress Kelly Armstrong(R) received 1,699 votes and Cara Mund (I) received 883. Statewide, Armstrong received 62.20% of the vote with Mund receiving 37.57%.
With the redistricting of District 4, voters in District 04a were choosing their state representative for an unexpired two-year term. In Mountrail County, Lisa Finley-DeVille (D) received 666 votes, compared to 392 for Terry Jones (R). Throughout the district Finley-DeVille received 1,229 votes compared to 547 for Jones to earn the seat.
In District 04b, Clayton Fegley, (R) was the only candidate on the ballot receiving 481 votes in Mountrail County and 2,672 throughout the district.
